Having grown up on a farm just across the border in Luverne, MN, Sheila is no stranger to the ups and downs of life in a rural, farming community. Knowing that “life on the farm” was not part of her future, she sensed God calling her to ministry at the age of 15. She left her options open to ministry either in the church or in the realm of Christian camping, pursuing the latter upon completion of her bachelor’s degree in Educational Ministries at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL. After several years of Christian camping experience in northeast Wisconsin, she furthered her education and experience to include non-profit startup and management. Her Master’s degree in Administrative Science from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay (Go Packers!) equipped her to develop and manage EncouragementLink, a non-profit ministry in Upper Michigan, for fifteen years.
In 2014, Sheila and her family moved to Madison, SD to manage Camp Lakodia and it’s parent non-profit ministry, Fostering Hope. With a burning in her heart to pursue her purpose in ministry with greater intensity, she accepted the position at Living Hope Church in 2017. She is passionate about leading in the church in a way that helps people “get from here to there” in their spiritual journey towards Christ.
